The Health Benefits Of Taking Fish Oil Capsules

Fish oil contains the omega 3 fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which are known to have great benefits in terms of the health. Large-scale studies have shown that DHA & EPA, when taken in recommended quantities through fish meals or fish oil capsules, reduce the risk of heart attack, abnormal heart rhythms, strokes, hardening of the arteries and blood pressure.

The US National Institute of Health recommends consumption of these fatty acids. They help to avoid conditions like Hypertriglyceridemia, Hypertension and Secondary Cardiovascular Disease. These acids are also recommended for avoiding 27 other conditions, though the evidence for these recommendations is being debated.

The benefits of fish oil not only effect health, but can also effect personal behavior. In select studies, violent prisoners in England and Finland have been shown to have below normal levels of the fatty acids found in fish oil. Although an intake of more than 3 grams daily could lead to bleeding, posing some safety concerns.

So how do the fish produce omega 3 fatty acids? They do not produce it. They accumulate it. At the start of the chain are the micro algae which produce these fatty acids. Fish eat these micro algae. And then they also eat other fish which have already accumulated these fatty acids. Here is where the danger lurks.

Since most of the fish from which we get the above-mentioned acids are at the top of the food chain, they end up accumulating a lot of toxic substances too, like mercury. The FDA recommends limiting the consumption of fish due to the possibility of getting too many toxins. So how can we then benefit from the numerous benefits that accrue from fish oil? A lot of people have found their answer in fish oil supplements.

Fish oil capsules are available for you family. It’s best to find a product that is from a single species, a brand that processes a fish species that is graded for human consumption, and one that is guaranteed to be toxin free. The company should be sure to sell fish oils that come from the flesh of healthy fish, to reduce getting too much Vitamin and D, as well as hidden contamiants.

Consumption of omega 3 fatty acids, Decosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) present in fish oil provides multiple health benefits. However, FDA recommends limiting the fish consumption due to toxic accumulation in fishes. So how can we benefit from the numerous benefits that accrue from fish oil? Many fish oil supplements are also available in the form of capsules. One should ensure to go for a product that is specifically drawn from a single species while choosing fish oil capsules. You should select a brand which uses fish species well graded for human consumption and are certified to be toxin free.
